ROBIN SCHONE

You know it when ...
Don, my husband and soul mate, beta read my first romance novel during Super Bowl. That, dear reader, is true love.
“I think the best thing about Robin Schone is that she took one agent telling her: “You simply cannot start a romance book with a masturbation scene,” then made a career of doing things ‘You simply cannot’ do.”

GOLDEN BOOKS, TRUE CONFESSIONS & DINOSAURS
From Golden Books to True Confessions. Pre-Kindergarten. Well, I didn't attend kindergarten. My mom taught me how to write and spell by gouging "How now brown cow" in the dirt with a stick. I also caught on very early that S-H-I-T spelled hopefully what only occurs in the toilet. So much for spelling naughty words in front of the kiddies!
One of my earliest memories is lurking behind doors clutching a Golden Book and hijacking whoever walked by with demands to be read to. Promptly. What can I say? I'm an only child. Other early memories include snuggling with my mom in bed while she read a magazine. Which, of course, I demanded she read out loud. Her reading preference was True Confessions. So I absorbed fanciful fairytales interspersed with harrowing tales of romantic relationships long before I could read. Getting the trend here?

I wasn't interested in that man-woman stuff then. My true love was dinosaurs. I remember mom and I going to a matinee one Saturday. I was entranced by big, beautiful dinosaurs; mom was entranced with the second feature starring her heart-throb idol Rock Hudson.

In college, I majored in Art, Classics and World Religion with a minor in Psychology. After working as a waitress and a day-care teacher (I survived one full day in a Montessori classroom filled with little demons—I mean, beautiful, well-behaved 3-year-old darlings!), I landed a part-time job in marketing research as a coder. Which then led to a full-time position as a marketing analyst. Pesky politics reared its ugly head and the company laid off 3 of us—me, a vice-president and a manager—all in one day. The rest is history.
I write “intensely emotional” romance and am a USA Today Bestselling author published in 15 languages. The Lady’s Tutor is a Cosmopolitan “Must Read” Erotic Novel, an NPR “Swoon-Worthy” Romance and a happymag.tv Best Erotic Novel of All Time. RUSQ (Reference and User Services of the American Library Association) chose Scandalous Lovers to “represent the wide range of historical fiction in romance.” A Lady's Pleasure debuted in the first printed ‘erotic romance’ anthology and crashed Amazon charts to become their #1 Bestselling Anthology.
Best of all, Don, my “Official Love Test Dummy” (he insisted I make his self-appointed title into a t-shirt and wore it proudly) was with me every step of the way. When I told him my Spanish publisher was flying me to Spain for a book tour, he said, “I don't care if I have to travel in cargo, Robin; I’m coming with you.” And so he did. ♥
